The jackdaw is largely black, except for a grey back-of-neck and milky white eye. Renowned for being a cheeky opportunist, it has been known to steal other birds' hatchlings and eggs, and break into bird feeders.

Diet: Invertebrates, fruit, seeds, scraps, sometimes eggs & nestlings

Origin: Native

UK conservation status: Green

IUCN conservation status: Least Concern
